Have you ever dreamed of a month vacation in France? Stay in
a lovely hotel alongside a river. Spend your afternoons exploring
small villages or local castles and historic ruins, and weekends
at the Louvre, on top of the Eiffel Tower, riding a boat to Bordeaux,
dancing the night away in a Disco or meandering through wine
country.TEFL International can offer you all of this with our
centre in Mauzac/Bordeaux.
France is many things to many people. To many it is the Cultural Gateway to Europe, with a dynamic culture and interesting and relevant history. To others it may be a country with breathtakingly diverse landscapes. And to others France conjures up images of amazing cuisines and astounding wines.
In fact all of these are true, and all are part of what the French sometimes call "Sweet France"; their extraordinarily seductive way of life.
And with all this to look forward to, we invite you to sample "Sweet France" for yourself, in the picturesque village of Mauzac, about 200km inland from the coast, in the beautiful Perigordine countryside near Bordeaux.
The city of Bergerac, with its international airport is just half an hour away, and the bastide town of Lalinde is 7 minutes west. Mauzac is a charming village that sits on the banks of the Dordogne river.
The village is small with one general store, a bar/cafe, restaurant, post office, tennis courts, sailing club and train station, which is a 15-minute walk away, with 3 trains daily to Bordeaux.
The Dordogne river valley is known for its incredible history, dating back to the days of Neanderthal and Cro-Magnon man and, much more recently, medieval towns and massive chateaus. This picture was taken just 10 minutes walk from our school in Mauzac.
Even in this small area there is an amazing diversity of landscape, from the black forests to the south to the limestone surrounding the capital to the famous wine growing areas to the west.
Bordeaux, 100km away, is known for its neoclassical architecture
and 18th century grandeur, as well as its excellent museums,
vibrant night life and huge university population.
There are four traditional seasons—Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter with Summer highs normally in the 80's (around 27 to 32) and winter lows in the 40's (5 to 10) with some rare snow.
