Corinth is on the Peloponnese Peninsula, home to a large number of ancient sites and the most visited part of mainland Greece outside Athens. For many, a visit to the Peloponnese region offers the best chance to sample traditional Greek life. Conveniently situated 50 miles from Athens, Corinth is the gateway to the Peloponnese, an area rich in natural beauty and historical sites. Ancient Corinth is an important archaeological site, and above the ancient town towers Acrocorinth, a fortress used throughout the middle ages by Byzantine, Venetian and Turkish occupiers.
The modern city of Corinth has all the facilities you need to make your stay enjoyable, including numerous quaint outdoor cafes, bars and restaurants, a number of beaches, and plenty of services, such as travel agencies, banks, shops, and excellent transport connections, linking Corinth with Athens, and the surrounding villages.
There’s certainly plenty to see during your TEFL course in Corinth:
Ancient Corinth The ruins of Ancient Corinth, 7km from the modern city, are the main reason most travellers visit the area. Ancient Corinth features a number of spectacular ruins, the most notable being the Temple of Apollo, dating from the 5th Century BC. There is also a museum on the site, housing a collection of ancient mosaics and statues.
St. Paul's Metropolitan Church You can’t go to Corinth without visiting St. Paul's Metropolitan Church, and the tribune from which St. Paul spoke to the Corinthians.
Acrocorinthos This fortress contains ruins from Byzantine, Roman, Turkish and Venetian rule and offers excellent views from the Temple of Aphrodite, which crowns Acrocorinth. Acrocorinthos is the largest and oldest castle in Peloponnese, built on a hill of 575m in height. The imposing walls date back to the medieval years.
Corinth Canal This impressive canal is a massive engineering task that commenced in 67AD but wasn't completed until relatively recently, in 1893. The 6km canal boasts 90-meter high sides and is a particularly impressive sight. Trains and buses running between Athens and Corinth or Patras pass over the canal.
Corinth is very easy to get to and from. The city is just ninety minutes from Athens International Airport (E. Venizelos). Corinth is also served by buses and trains. The train station is on Demokratias. The city of Corinth lies on the Athens-Patras line and there are frequent trains in both directions. Corinth has three separate bus stations. Buses for Athens depart from bus station A, near the train station. Buses to Ancient Corinth depart from near the corner of Koliatsou and Kolokotroni and buses to most other destinations in the Peloponnese leave from the station near the corner of Ermu and Koliatsou.
The Corinth TEFL International training centre is closely tied with a teacher recruitment agency which can provide a valuable source of TEFL jobs in Greece. The Corinth center would be happy to help you find the job you want in Greece or elsewhere on completion of your TEFL course in Corinth.

Accommodation
For the summer courses, there is a choice of accommodation in Corinth, a short walk from the centre, or in beachside apartments in Vrahati, a seaside village 20 minutes from the training center. The main house in Vrahati has three single rooms and two double rooms, accommodating a total of seven people. There are two bathrooms in the house, a fully equipped kitchen with a washing machine, and a communal lounge. The lounge has two computers for the use of trainees, and the whole house has wireless internet access, so you’re welcome to bring your laptop. In addition to the balconies surrounding the house, there’s also a large garden, furnished with chairs, sun beds and a barbeque. The rooms are cleaned and sheets are changed weekly.
The house is two minutes’ walk from the center of the village, with all the facilities you’re likely to need, such as shops, post office, banks, bus station and a taxi rank. It’s ten minutes’ walk from the beach. Vrahati has some excellent beaches, awarded with the European Union's Blue Flag, and is a busy resort in the summer. It's a center for nightlife, with plenty of cafes, restaurants, bars and night clubs, but still relatively unspoilt.
Other apartments in the area are rented according to demand, enabling all trainees to make use of the facilities at the main house. Rooms in the main house are allocated on a first-come, first served basis, so we recommend you reserve your place as early as possible.
Wherever you choose to stay, we'll meet you at Athens airport at the start of the course, and take you back at the end at no extra charge.
