Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching. This convenient, highly structured design means that you can quickly get to grips with each section before moving onto the next.
In this unit, we were introduced to the Receptive skills and Productive skills. Receptive skills, as the name suggests is when one receives information by reading or listening. We receive information when we read the newspaper or a menu at a restaurant. We can also read for entertainment purposes. Reading is one of the best ways to improve your language. Even today, as I read books I learn new words and build my vocabulary. Listening to podcasts, music, online books or sports commentary is another way to receive information, either for pleasure or a specific purpose.
