This unit reinforced that the students' needs should be the foremost concern of the teacher. If the lesson is not reaching all of the students and there are not appropriate modifications to account for varied skills level then it was not properly planned. While the better a teacher knows a class, the more appropriate the lessons will be, it is also important to prepare for issues that might arise during class. Just as teachers should plan back up plans for certain equipment, preparatory planning for other issues (native language use, reluctant students, etc.) should also be accounted for.Unit five is about classroom management. There are many options to communicated with individual students and the class as a whole. Many options are geared towards reducing teacher talk time, although a detailed list talks about the benefits of appropriate and simple teach talk time. Another section of the unit describes how to arrange the room and students. Lastly, reasons and responses to discipline problems are broadly explained. The format of this unit was predominately centered around pros and cons for each variation in seating arrangement, non-verbal cues and the rest of the content.
