Evaluation and Testing of Students - Types of Tests

This video is part of our video series on "Evaluation and Testing of Students". In this video, we cover the different types of tests teachers will come across. These include placement tests, diagnostic tests, progress tests, practice tests and proficiency tests. In the next videos, we will take a look at each type of test in detail.

Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching. This convenient, highly structured design means that you can quickly get to grips with each section before moving onto the next.

In this unit I learned about the receptive skills - reading and listening and how they can be subdivided into two categories covering whether we read and listen for entertainment or for a purpose. It also covered the various ways we listen and read depending on whether we just need a genereal idea or need precise information as well as anything in between. The unit came up with some suggesting on how a lesson in receptive skills can be organised as well as some recommendations about which texts might be useful in certain classes.
