Teaching Special Groups in ESL

Within the teaching of ESL throughout the world, there is a whole spectrum of the types of groups that you may be involved in. It's worth breaking those types of groups down to have a look at some of the more specific things we need to do when we're teaching those groups - and this is what this video focuses on.

Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching. This convenient, highly structured design means that you can quickly get to grips with each section before moving onto the next.

I feel that I have learned to understand more than just to help and move on. Children needs more encouragement and needs to know that you are there for them when they struggle, whereas adults want you to understand where they are coming from and in that way you will be able to help them more with the task. In all you should listen to your learners and also help where they get stuck but also give them chance to take on the task on their own. Everybody makes mistakes and it is in that mistake where you become better and achieve.
