Lesson planning Dos and Don'ts

Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching. This convenient, highly structured design means that you can quickly get to grips with each section before moving onto the next.

In the English language we use modal verbs to show if we think something is certain, probable or possible. We also use it to talk about ability, to make requests and offers, and to ask permission, in different degrees of formality. Intransitive phrasal verbs also occur in the English language sentence structure. The key is the ability to pick out the direct object. Try and encourage the students to use phrasal verbs in the classroom so that they become more familiar with them. This will hopefully encourage students to use them naturally for themselves.
