TEFL Videos - TEFL 120-hour Course - Unit 5
Chantelle details her experience of studying the fifth unit of her online TEFL course with ITTT. In this unit she learnt about classroom management and the different ways you can arrange your classroom and group students according to the needs of the lesson you are going to teach and of the students themselves. The unit also deals with reasons for problem behavior within a lesson and the ways a teacher’s body language can be used to communicate ideas about language as well as to reinforce instructions and requirements of the teacher.
This is what one of our TEFL graduates feels he has gained from the course, or a part of it, and how he plans to put into action what he has learned.
This unit focused on the surrounding issues, advantages, disadvantages, and ways to teach various special groups of students, including beginners, individual (one to one) classes, young learners, business English courses, and multilingual or monolingual classes of students. The teaching tips provided for each of these groups were clear and common sense based, as has been this entire course. I did very much appreciate the paragraph about \"Your expertise\" in the business English section, as a reassurance that my own doubts about my English expertise in such situations should be dismissed. This unit covers the conditionals and the reported speech. There several uses of conditional: 1) Zero conditional - Present simple + Present Simple (facts) 2) First conditional - Present simple + will, might, can, may + present verb (possibility that is more likely to happen) 3) Second conditional - Past simple + would + verb (dreams, fantasies) 3) Third conditional - Past Perfect + would + have+ Participle (regrets) 4) Mixed conditional - Past Perfect + would + verb ( past actions with present consequences) When report a direct speech we usually backshift the tense used one tense back.
