TEFL Videos - TESOL TEFL Reviews - Video Testimonial - Adrian
Adrian from Canada is living and teaching English in Japan. In this TEFL review video Adrian discusses what he and his students have got out of his TEFL course with ITTT. Adrian found that taking the TEFL course was extremely helpful in improving his confidence in the classroom. During his regular feedback sessions with his adult students they have noticed the difference taking the course has made to Adrian’s teaching and are appreciative of this. With his new certification, Adrian intends on staying and teaching English in Japan for the foreseeable future.
This is what one of our TEFL graduates feels he has gained from the course, or a part of it, and how he plans to put into action what he has learned.
In this unit I was able to understand better how to use the three article (the, a, an). I also gain a better understanding of the parts of speech. Verbs are very important in our language and we have so many irregular verbs that don't follow any specific rules. When I put sentences together from now on, I will keep in mind that adjectives go in a basic order from size to age to color to material to noun. , This unit clarified when to double the final consonant n, t or d when using one syllable words and when to use more with two syllable words and most with three or more syllable words. This unit touches on a lot of fundamental points. Without any productive skills, communication would be very difficult or impossible. I never thought that the best way to help students with spelling is with extensive reading, that is useful to know. It seems that a lot of care must be put into teaching productive skills, as many students, depending upon the culture, may be reluctant to speak or write. I see this a lot in my travels--people learning English being very reluctant to speak because they might \"look bad.\" Teaching this skill requires a lot of understanding and encouragement.
