TEFL Videos - TESOL TEFL Reviews - Video Testimonial - James
James from England works in Indonesia as an English teacher. In this TESOL review James tells us that he decided to do ITTT's online 120 hour TEFL/TESOL course in order to further his teaching qualifications and to improve his teaching skills. James completed the course with the tutor support option. He is now undertaking to complete ITTT's advanced 250 hour TEFL/TESOL Diploma Course.
This is what one of our TEFL graduates feels he has gained from the course, or a part of it, and how he plans to put into action what he has learned.
After studying this unit, I felt an urge to summarise it in order to be as much accurate as possible while teaching the present tenses to my students. It was interesting to learn about the typical mistakes someone learning English as a second language makes. I also appreciated the way the material explain about the formation of each tense: Present: Sub + verb form (__, s, es) Present Continuous: Sub + verb ing Present Perfect: Sub + have/has + past participle Present Perfect Continuous: Sub + have/has + been + ingThis unit covers approaches to teaching English language pronunciation. It covers the phonetic system used to articulate sounds for the English language. A section on the physical aspects of making sounds using the mouth, tongue, and teeth has also been included. What I learned from it is - it is good for ESL teachers to learn IPA even though it is difficult. However, I find that learning it - for me, at least - would be easier if we know what each symbol is called - so that I can memorize all the phonetic alphabets and associate each symbol with a sound. So far I have not found anything.
