In this TESOL review Jason describes his experience during his TEFL/TESOL course in Shanghai, China. He talks about the hands on teaching opportunities that the course provided. The majority of ITTT's trainees who do our four week intensive course come with no prior knowledge or experience of teaching English. Our challenging but rewarding courses give trainees the confidence and skills to be able to take up teaching positions in countries all over the world.
This is what one of our TEFL graduates feels he has gained from the course, or a part of it, and how he plans to put into action what he has learned.
This unit covers the various types of tests and assessment techniques in the EFL classroom. It also discusses the different applications and uses of each test type. In addition to this, an overview of common external exams that are studied for are also included. I have learned the more intricate parts of test selection and application, such as specific test purpose (general assessment, or progress report). I have also gained a foundation of knowledge of the various external exams that students generally study for. This will help me to better tailor my lessons for these exams, when necessary. In this unit, we will learn about the basic principle of making a lesson plan. In making a lesson plan you should know what lesson to be written, how to create an organized lesson plan, what should be included in the lesson plan, how to monitor the students while doing their activities, and planning sequence of a lesson plan and why do we need to create a lesson. Creating a lesson plan is very helpful because it forms a record that has been taught, working document and create a logical sequence for the lesson. Also, this will be your guidance or subject for the lesson that you are teaching.
