TEFL Videos - TESOL TEFL Reviews - Video Testimonial - Julia
Julia from Russia completed her TESOL course with ITTT. Julia tells us in this TESOL review video that she found the course to be interesting, informative and useful. She learned a lot of new information about teaching English as a foreign language that she can use with her students. Although her decision to take the course was a spontaneous one, she doesn’t regret that decision and is hoping to be able to travel to China to teach English and gain some new experiences.
This is what one of our TEFL graduates feels he has gained from the course, or a part of it, and how he plans to put into action what he has learned.
This unit covered the unique teaching challenges, advantages, and recommended approaches for teaching special groups such as beginners, young learners, individuals, and business English or English for Special Purposes (ESP). I feel that I learned a lot and was particularly interested in the business English/ESP as that may be something I pursue down the road. Teaching individuals is something I may also come across sooner than later and so I found that particularly helpful. Teaching young learners is most likely where I'll begin my career and so that, of course, was extremely relevant.Unit 2 begins the daunting task of explaining the various parts of English grammar by highlighting the most commonly referenced speech parts, including nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, articles, gerunds, prepositions and conjunctions, and pronouns. For each speech part, further examinations into each type is explored with examples provided. This was a fantastic refresher for me as it has been some years since I completed my English Literature degree. I think some sentence diagramming could also be beneficial in finding alternative, graphical ways to explain English sentence structures.
