In this unit, I learned of the various teaching methodologies that can be used in the classroom. Engage, Study, Activate is an effective methodology for new teachers. It involves three stages: Engage in which the aim is to encourage high talk time for students, Study in which new language concepts are taught, and Activate in which students are encouraged to integrate English they already have and new language they have just learnt. Giving feedback and correction is important for continual student improvement. Too much correction, however, may discourage students.
