Coursebooks certainly has its advantages and disadvantages and as teachers, one needs to understand the role of the teacher versus the role of the students. Authentic materials vary from created materials. I learnt that Authentic materials are not designed for students who are learning English for the first time. Course books are not designed for entire lesson periods and in analysing course books there are factors like price, availability., design, Methodology, skills, difficulty, syllabus, materials and relevant topic must be factored in when analysing a course book.
