Unit 5 has served as another valuable lesson on the role of the teacher. I learned how to present myself in the classroom - specifically how to use my voice, how to properly make eye contact, and how to use hand gestures to help convey instructions and reduce teacher talk time. Seating arrangements and types of group work were also covered, showing just how important group management skills are for setting up a proper learning environment. I understand that if these strategies are practiced, establishing rapport with students will be much easier and will minimize problem behavior.
