TEFL Videos - TESOL TEFL Reviews - Video Testimonial - TEFL Video Journal - Week 2
In this TEFL review video a student from South Africa talks about her second week at ITTT's training center in Phuket, Thailand. She discusses some of the course components, the training staff and the rewards of doing the course in Phuket. At ITTT all in-class trainers and online tutors are experienced and qualified professionals and they guarantee to deliver to trainees the most up to date training methods in the teaching of English to non native English speakers.
This is what one of our TEFL graduates feels he has gained from the course, or a part of it, and how he plans to put into action what he has learned.
I enjoyed this unit and the beginnings of understanding the four different skills to language learning, receptive: reading and listening, and productive: speaking and writing. Prior to teaching English, I considered that speaking and listening to understand the language would have been the most important of these skills, however they are all equally important. In my classes, I have now been trying to do activities that draw on all of these skills. I also teach Special Education, and I would enjoy having more information on how to incorporate all of these elements in special education lessons.Classroom management is the skill of organizing and managing the class, having a friendly relaxed manner, and maintaining discipline. A teacher should conduct themselves in an appropriate manner, making appropriate use of eye contact, voice, and gestures. The teacher needs to maintain control in their classroom, and that starts with grouping students accordingly, arranging the classroom accordingly, establishing rapport, taking steps to prevent problem behavior, and acting immediately when problem behaviors occur. This unit was helpful in covering a broad spectrum of teacher responsibilities.
