TEFL Videos - What is the difference between TESOL and TEFL?
This is what one of our TEFL graduates feels he has gained from the course, or a part of it, and how he plans to put into action what he has learned.
This unit has taught me what qualities I need to aspire to in order to be a good teacher. I has also given me an understanding of how to recognize a good learner and which characteristics I should foster in my students. It has also given me an understanding of the various factors such as age and motivation that will affect how students will learn. It seems it will take common sense and intuition to see where is is appropriate to use different teacher roles. Combined with an understanding of where my students are coming from I should be able to give them the best chance of truly learning. This unit discussed conditional forms of speech as well as reported speech. I learned a lot about both topics. I learned about the variety of configurations that can occur in conditional speech, based on when the subject and the possible outcome occurs (i.e. in the past, or present). I was also surprised by how simple, and useful the set of rules for converting direct speech to reported speech are, yet I still had trouble initially deriving them all. I learned that I have probably been performing this conversion wrong for most of my life, and it is great to finally understand it properly.
