This unit has helped me to see the importance of using material that is of interest to all students. Choosing something that interests me will not necessarily interest the rest ofthe class. To choose adequately, I must get to know my students' interests. I have also learned that the goal is not to teach them the meaning of every single word, but rather to build their confidence in reading and understanding the general idea of a text even if they don't know some of the vocabulary.
