This unit has explained the importance of the productive skills, speaking and writing. I have learnt the importance of using both fluency and accuracy in order to teach students and how they each have their own benefits and must be approached differently. The Activate stage is the best place for allowing students to practice fluency so they can become confident in their communication and the Study stage is generally best for accuracy-based activities that are more guided, such as drilling. Games are also extremely useful ways of keeping students engaged, yet also eliciting language skills and building student confidence.
