When it comes to teaching there are many different methods and materials you can use. I think one of the best, however, is music or introducing songs into the lesson plans. Not only is music great, but it also helps introduction new vocabulary and grammar, pronunciation and speech pattern practice and let's just face it, music is fun and everyone loves music! There are other benefits of using songs or music, but these are among the best reasons. Using songs in class can introduce you class to new vocabulary and grammar. Most songs use words to express a feeling are emotion. Students have to learn the new vocabulary, in order to gain the context of the song. Also learning grammar along the way. Even maybe picking up on idioms and slang as well. The way some words are used in songs, show how words gave be used differently in English. Learning and repeating a song is a great tool. It gives you a way to practice pronunciation and speech pattern. Songs are written in a certain sequence and pattern in order to flow. When you learn and repeat these patterns it makes English learning and speaking easier. Pronunciation is key is music,so that the listener can hear and understand the lyrics to the song. Studying these same mode of pronunciation to match the song is the best of these two. Music is just great, let's face it. It is key to our cultures, growing up, and used most important events and stages in our lives. We remember the words even if we don't, understand the meaning of the song. We may not even know the language the song is been spoken in, but we learn it and sing it. Because music stimulates our minds and helps aid the process of learning. We are enjoying something we love and gaining knowledge at the same time. I believe music is one of the key ingredients when learning any language. Especially, when it comes to learning English, due to the influence of American pop culture. Artists are essentially the first teacher to some. Teaching them new vocabulary. Showing them how to use grammar. Introducing them to slang according to the region. As well as teaching American and pop culture. The singers spends hours practicing, pronunciation of the words and the pattern of the words to fit the music. As so does the student, when they find that favorite English song. You try until you sound like the singer. Learning and singing along the way. And again, let's just face it, music is just great. It has ways been a great teaching tool, since probably the beginning of time. People can't remember a lot things from all their lives. But one thing for sure that most always remember is their favorite song. They can recite line by line, note by note. Having prefect dictation and syncopation to the beat. Why, because using songs and music is one of the greatest tools to educate in any language.
