In this unit I learned about pros and cons of structuring/planning the lesson or the series of lessons. It's good to have a plan, but it's important to maintain flexibility within the plan. The plan provides some point of reference for the teacher to look back on as a record, and also could help with covering (in case the teacher is sick or has to take leave of absence). I think writing a skeleton for each ESA phase, bringing props and assignments, and allocating time for each phase - all of it is important part of preparation for the lesson. Setting goals for both the teacher and the students, and also anticipating problems are another key components of lesson planning. There are templates teachers can and should use for lesson planning.
