It is important when writing lesson plans to have an aid in planning, a working document, and a record. Lesson plans should be kept short and simple, teachers should not try and read off the lesson plan like a script, there should be structure maintained in class, the time for each activity should be anticipated, the balance and flow of the lesson plan should be checked, and it should be flexible and adaptable. To stay most organized, I need to bring my lesson plan to class, run through it, bring required materials, check to ensure my equipment functions properly, lay out my equipment, arrange to seat, check to see that the board is clean, and be ready to greet students when they come to class. There are various things that should be included in a lesson plan including learner objectives, personal aims, language point, teaching aids, anticipated problems, procedure activities, phase, timing, interaction, class level, number of students, date and time, and teacher notes. In hindsight, revision and contemplation post lesson and post class feels highly important to me in order to reflect on the effectiveness of my lesson plans and where my students are at.
