Unit seven focuses on teaching new language in a broad sense. It introduces ideas you must first consider when presented with a goal for the lesson. For example, the teacher must consider if the lesson is vocab, grammatical, or function oriented, which should influence the design of the lesson substantially. The unit also provides some useful ESA framework and example ideas for each kind, but makes a note that there is no correct way to definitively teach the lesson, the teacher must make a judgement based on the students' abilities and age in order to successfully construct a lesson appropriate for the goal at hand.
