Tefl article - TEFL The use of muliple intelligences in education #289 - ✔️ ✔️ ✔️ ITTT
The theory of multiple intelligences was developed by a professor of education at Harvard University, by the name of Dr. Howard Gardner. Originally Dr. Gardner developed his theory as a contribution to psychology. However, the educational benefits of this theory were soon realized. The theory suggests that while our society and intelligence tests place a premium on linguistic and logical-mathematical intelligence, there are several other areas of intelligence that go largely untested and unappreciated. While Gardners theory includes linguistic, or word smart, and logical-mathematical, or number and reasoning intelligence, he also includes several others. Group Dynamics Peta Roberts - ✔️ ✔️ ✔️ ITTT
An understanding of the concept of group dynamics provides valuable insight into the processes involved in a successful group lesson. This awareness can assist the TEFL teacher in identifying what stage the group is up to and the direction it is taking, ultimately enhancing the cohesiveness of the group and the learning experiences achieved. One of the most well-known and widely used theories of group dynamics is Tuckman’s (1965) four-stage model of the “Group Cycleâ€. The stages of “formingâ€, “stormingâ€, “normingâ€, and “performing†are...					 [Read more]

			Why complete a TEFL course Paula Brennan - ✔️ ✔️ ✔️ ITTT
The motives people have, with regard to undertaking such an intensive and demanding course as a TEFL(Teaching English as a Foreign Language), are varied: a desire to live and work in some exotic location; to meet and interact with new people from all walks of life and, indeed, all corners of the globe: to enhance their existing skills or supplement a CV; to forge a different career path or, more altruistically, to seek to improve the lives of others by enabling them to communicate with the wider world while perhaps benefiting them in both social and financial contexts. I would like to state that the latter, decidedly the most admirable one, was my motive - but it was not. My motive, rather ironically, was to become a better English teacher to my native English speaking ...					 [Read more]
