TEFL Videos - English Lesson - Future Perfect Tense
This is what one of our TEFL graduates feels he has gained from the course, or a part of it, and how he plans to put into action what he has learned.
This section covered the use of exams as part of an english program, reasons exams might be desirable and types of exams, both internal and external. Exams offer an opportunity for teachers to evaluate their students' English skill, whether that be as a placement or diagnostic test to help evaluate their current position and how best to assist them in their language acquisition, or as a progress test to evaluate their growth and retention. External testing has the benefit of often being recognized by universities, governments, workplaces, etc. as indications of their English proficiency. This unit taught me the different theories, methods, and techniques of teaching English as a foreign language. It also introduced to me the ESA method (Engage, Study, Activate), as well as the different types of ESA lessons I can use (Straight Arrow, Boomerang, and Patchwork). The differences among the three stages were also discussed, and examples of activities that I can use for my lessons were also given. With these in hand, I feel more confident in preparing my lessons and teaching English in general since this method covers all aspects necessary for students to learn a new language.
