For nearly two decades ITTT has been at the forefront of providing high-quality TEFL/TESOL courses that can be studied in-class or online. As part of our commitment to offering the best possible training to our students we are constantly endeavoring to provide courses that meet the demands of the TEFL/TESOL industry. This has led us to develop a certification course with subsequent teaching practice (CTP).
Our 150-hour CTP course is aimed mainly at unqualified teachers who require a practical teaching component with their certification but who are, due to geographical or time constraints, unable to attend a training centre in person. The unique benefit of the ITTT CTP course is that all parts of the course can be completed without the need to attend one of our training centres.
How CTP Courses Work
You will have twelve months to complete the course. Once you have successfully finished all elements you will receive a 150-hour certificate which will include reference to your minimum of six hours of teaching practice. In addition to this certificate you will have created a portfolio of your work throughout the course. This portfolio will be useful in your future job applications as evidence of your teaching experience and abilities.
The Two Phases of a 150-hour CTP Course
The course consists of two phases:
Phase 1) The first phase of the course develops an awareness of teaching methodology, lesson planning, feedback techniques and self evaluation plus the most commonly taught areas of English Grammar. This part is completed online via a series of twenty course units and corresponding tests.
Phase 2) In the second phase participants demonstrate, through the actual teaching of real English Language Learners (ELLs), their skills and abilities as teachers over a range of student levels and topics. This part of the course will be done in the school or language centre of your choice and overseen by the staff at that centre, completing at least six one-hour lessons.
