Reading and listening are both important assets of understanding a language. Listening requires more effort as you can only hear it once. There is no time to really think about it. Reading is easier as you can reread the text and really put your thoughts into it. As a teacher it's important to pick a text or dialogue that interests the students. It has to be realistically achievable. Not too easy but also not too difficult!
