Children are said to be wet clay that can be molded to give the desired shape. And, this shape can be collaboratively given by the parents and the school. Even though teachers play a great role to teach children, parents can do much more in their children’s education. Almost three-quarters of time of a schooling child spent in home, which means most of the lessons & behavior is adapted by them from their family. Therefore, parents are always said to be the first teacher of a child. A home may lack most of the classroom materials and the environment, but also several ways can be implemented to help children learn. 1) Revision: Parents can help their younger ones by revising the task with their children, which was done in school. Before starting, we need to make sure that the child is ready to learn. This method can also be used for adult learners. 2) Utilize objects: Better than using digital resources, other objects like a bundle of pencil, dough, alphabets, and so on can help students to learn. Materials such as pencils or dough can be used to give different shapes so that children can memorize easily. Similarly, alphabets of different colours or with some images on it can help younger to catch the tough words easily. The same can be applied in the case of adults as well. 3) Friendly environment: Guardians should always assure that their child is comfortable to share his/her feeling so that their weaker portion on their study curriculum can be known. This can be done by spending few times a day with them. Meanwhile, we should ignore their minor mistakes to make them feel affable. Parents rather than being stricter to their children can be softer enough to bring them closer. For instance: A child will answer everything in a sweeter way if asked about how his/her day was spent, instead of asking directly about the lesson in the school? 4) Motivation: Pupils are always motivated even with minor factors. Rewarding on certain achievements in home or the task done can influence them to learn. For example, parents can promise to take the child to his/her favorite park once he/she completes the school assignment with good grading. Praising or giving some stickers on the home task during learning also can motivate learners a lot. 5) In-touch with the school: Parents will be invited from the school during several events or guardians’ meetings. It is mandatory to attend these events because parents will get a chance to know about the activities of their child in the school, even can hear other parents as well. Also, some invitations may include the lesson on helping a child to learn. Parents can adopt those useful ideas and implement in their home teaching. While teaching the juniors, parents may face some problems or obstacles. 1) Misguidance: If the parent’s first language is not English, home education may have bad impact on a child’s education. The way they learn in school and in the home may vary a lot, especially the pronunciation. Also, the parent may wish their children to learn in a traditional way, instead of following the modern approach. 2) Excess Timing: Child or an adult would like to explore the world or their surrounding by playing and roaming around, but the parents may compel their children to study for a longer period at home. This can be due to the sense of competition of grading. These issues can be solved with the understanding of children’s interest and the parents’ cooperation with the school and teachers.
