In this part of the course I learnt about the receptive skills listening and reading. There is much more complexity than just simply listening or reading: there are different motivations and reasons for reading or listening to something, and with the additional fact that in general you must have worldly or literary experience to understand language. I was surprised to see how many different kinds of “reading but not completely” there were which was interesting to include. Also think it was good to make the distinction between authentic and non-authentic writings, and how we can alleviate some stress from the student by preparing appropriately. This can be done by giving them authentic/non authentic texts for activities, pre-teaching, introducing giving interesting and relatable topics, etc.
