This unit focuses on the importance of the productive skills; that is, speaking and writing. The sample lesson plan was useful—because it contained the helpful reminder that guided and controlled activities to encourage accuracy are more appropriate for the study phase of the lesson, while the freer activities to encourage fluency are more appropriate for the activate phase of the lesson. The unit also pointed out the benefits of using well-chosen games in the classroom.
