In contrast to unit 11, unit 12 discusses the productive skills: writing and speaking. Speaking is seen in terms of accuracy and fluency. Accurate speech is more of a teacher controlled speech, that allows for less creativity. However, fluency hopes for the student to begin to use the language more masterfully by being creative. I learned how important it is in a lesson to balance both accuracy and fluency. Without either one of these aspects, a student may never be able to fully communicate in writing or speaking.
