I learned several important things from this unit. The first thing I learned was the necessity of avoiding the native language of the students, even if they are beginning students who speak no English at all. Using pictures and speaking very slowly is a much better solution, because it forces students (especially younger students) to need to pay attention understand what you are saying, rather than just wait until you speak their language. Another important thing I learned is to prepare more material than you need when teaching a class, because often times, especially at the beginning, the class may go faster than expected.
