A teacher plays a significant role in the life of students. A teacher assists and offers guidance to students. Sometimes being the first adult in students’ life, he/she makes them realize their interests, aims and ambitions. Hence, acts as a role model, inspiration and coach. Teachers help shape the future of the students and can direct students in positive directions that they may not have chased otherwise. The following words of Solomon Ortiz can’t be repudiated, “Education is the key to success in life, and teachers make a lasting impact in the lives of their students.” In actual fact, teachers’ role isn’t limited to the classroom. Their role and service transcends the classroom as they consistently help improve society or community by contributing their knowledge and area of expertise. Charles Kuralt rightly said, “Good teachers know how to bring out the best in students.” It involves working towards aims and objectives as well as carrying out activities to achieve this purpose. It helps in driving creativity and curiosity among students. It is not just about getting the students motivated at the moment, but it also involves developing their underlying goals and aspirations through their academic journey. While a deep and broad knowledge of the subject is essential for being a good teacher, a lot also depends on how the knowledge is passed on to the students. The focus should not be on learning notes and securing marks but on a clear understanding of the subject and holistic development of the child. A teacher is a nurturer and his/her role goes beyond academics, he/she is responsible for creating a love for life-long learning and advancement. A teacher should try to understand and inspire the students to create a positive influence. Every teacher should believe in their students and treat them with respect. Of course, teachers should discipline students when needed as well. A teacher should respect the student and focus on helping the student grow and learn. Kids go to school to learn, and the teacher is responsible for making that happen. A teacher should provide a safe learning environment for their students. A teacher should be impartial; he/she must treat all the students equally.A teacher needs to understand that all the students are not the same emotionally, socially and intellectually.
