Once again we can see the importance of a good "engage" phase to a lesson. If students find the lesson to come is boring or of no use or need for them, then they will be much less inclined to want to participate. It is clear that both "accuracy" and "fluency" are equally as important as each other, but should be taught at the correct moment in an ESA lesson. Don't confuse the teaching of "accuracy" needed to be learnt in the study phase by students, with the "fluency" that we are eventually looking to achieve from them in and activate" stage ! As in any lesson good preparation and knowledge of the students needs, likes and level of English is so important to the lesson being a success, and using good fun "pair-work" and "group-work" will encourage the more intimidated or shy students that maybe lack in self confidence to participate more actively in the activities (either it being speaking or writing).
