One of the most important aspects of teaching is making lesson plans. It is an important component of the teaching learning process. It helps the teacher to be more organized, more confident when delivering the lesson and provides with a general outline of the teaching goals. It determines the flow of the class and the timetable of both the teacher and the students. Without lesson planning, there won't be organizations and having no organizations means the class will be unsystematized. We have to know how to teach in a systematic way before entering the classroom. Lesson planning differs from person to person. But what we have to consider are the subjects, the students, and the time that we have. Lesson plans are subjective but they all have one point, that is to make sure that everything is in order and that students will be well-equipped with useful knowledge in a given period of time. There are many ways to prepare lesson plans. One is to determine what course of study will the teacher be focusing on. Once they found out which subject they will be teaching, they can look for a reference book and scan through it to find out how is the progression of the lesson. We can use one or more references and get those useful lessons to the lesson plan; outline the big ideas for the class. The main idea is to filter out the useful and those which aren't. Once completed, we can review the lesson plans and see if it is useful once executed. When writing the plan, we can prepare all the reasons why need on the lesson: The first thing, we determine what we want students to learn or the things which we should teach. Example for children: As a very general rule we can start with an introduction to the lesson, introduce the new language, give the children some controlled practice and move onto freer practice. Finally review what they've done and get feedback from the children themselves about what they did. What is the topic of the lesson? If the activities in the lesson have a logical link then the learners will be able to follow the teacher and the lesson, more easily. What do you want them to understand? It's vital to always think about 'why' the students are doing an activity, game or song. Everything on the teacher’s plan should be educational and suitable for students. Show the students a video clip, picture, photo or object to capture their attention and indicate which topic the lesson is based on. Review previous words: The teachers can ask the vocabulary, grammar, writing the sentences or reading the previous lesson. Prepare what words which the teachers are going to concentrate on and explain them clearly to the students. Give the students some controlled practice. An example of controlled practice is when the teacher provides sentences with missing words. The learners need to fill in the gap to talk to their partner and in this way everyone produces similar language. Freer practice is when the teacher sets up the situation, for example meeting someone new, and the teacher let the children decide on their own role-play language using what they know and what they have recently learnt. The teacher will probably do more 'freer practice' with older primary learners than the younger ones who have limited language at their disposal. Lesson planning should also focus on the length of each lesson. The estimation of time takes an important role for if it's not calculated well, the whole timetable might be disrupted. Lesson plans are like schedules of our daily tasks. It needs the action within the given period of time. It guides everyone in the class to be in the same track, and most especially, it secures that the class will run smoothly, the students learn the necessities without wasting any minutes.
