The teacher's role is necessary for teaching. It is a method of facilitating lessons to the students. There is a range of roles that the teacher should use such as, controller, organizer, assessor, prompter, facilitator, participant, observer, and counsellor. These roles should be used through stages of the lesson. To begin with, the lesson contains many stages. The teacher should vary the roles appropriately. To clarify, When the teacher tries to explain the lesson or give instructions, he should be the controller in charge of the class. And the teacher is the centre focus so that the teacher-talk time is increased. And every class needs organization, the classroom should be organized and managed in a suitable way to practice different activities either in individual, pairs or groups, as well as organizing the feedback which is very essential to avoid students common errors. While the assessor role is also the focal role for the purpose of giving feedback and correction as well as evaluating and grading the students' work, correcting students at the time of making mistakes must be avoided and correction is better to be given later. To give feedback, the teacher should focus on positive points rather than negative points to make students be enthusiastic to learn more and to obtain the desired score. Therefore, teachers' roles depend on types of activities, You can utilise one activity with two or three roles. Thus, the teacher should be aware of how to change himself from one role to another. Furthermore, the prompter role is useful when students make mistakes and being stuck to their native language, and the teacher should encourage them to speak English and try to help them to overcome their drawbacks in the language use. Students need sensitivity and praise to work hard on their coming lessons. To give an understandable lesson, facilitation is needed to try to explain easily the complicated language and to facilitate grammar use and vocabulary, and the teacher should be available as a resource in case the students require any assistance or guidance, in addition to provide a suitable learning environment. There are some phases in which the teacher will be a participant as the students. In this stage, the teacher does not dominate the classroom, and he interacts with his learners as their friends. This role is most beneficial to improve the rapport between him and the students. The other role is the observer, in this situation, the teacher monitors the class to see what is going on the lesson, and at the end, he should correct and praise students about their performance. While observing, it is important for the teacher to maintain the distance from the students so as not to distract them from the activity. In other words, if the teacher is stuck to one role, the lesson will end up with boredom, and students will not be active learners. The counsellor is also considered as one of the most important roles to help learners and give them pieces of advice in the classroom. In conclusion, the teachers' roles are important to apply in the classroom because lessons are required to be taken easily by the students. And since the teacher varies these roles appropriately according to the stages of the lesson, the class becomes interesting and students get interested.
