Writing a lesson plan has many important functions as an aid to planing (what the teacher expects the students would be able to achieve by the end of the lesson), a working document that teachers could refer to and a record of what the class has done and what materials have been used. The lesson plan should be written simply, well structured, flexible, with anticipated time of each activity, all the skills should be balanced and the teacher should not try to script the lesson. Most of the structures the should be included in a lesson plan are Learning objectives, personal aims, language point, teaching aids, anticipated problems, procedure, phase, timing, interaction, class level, number of student and date and time in order to keep a historical record. An example of a lesson plan is also given as well as one of a Self-evaluating form, due to the fact that a good teacher should always try to monitor their lesson by making notes in order to evaluate their work. When planning a sequence of lessons a teacher should be flexible because often there are some alterations that need to be made. Furthermore, an experienced teacher should build goals for their students into a sequence of lessons. Lesson content should also be often revised. Variety and balance is also important for writing a sequence of lessons as all skills should be included and given equal treatment.
