I believe that keeping a control of what we teach in class is a must for teachers: not just because we can´t remember what we did in a class four months ago; also because making our own lesson plans brings us the chance of writing down our own feedbacks about the class we have just had, discovering what works and what doesn´t during our lessons. As a teacher that expects to be working in schools for the rest of my life, this is the best way I know to identify which activities, exercises or techniques are more efficient to help my students. The first years of teaching are also self-discovering years, learning from mistakes (because every teacher makes mistakes) and improving along the years. Making our lesson plans is also helpful for those teachers who work with groups of different ages, courses or departments. Teaching future tenses is not the same in a Grade 6 in Primary than in an adult class and both classes would need different activities although the topic of the lesson is the same.
