Both speaking and writing are essential skills that allow students to communicate. These skills can be more difficult for students to feel confident with, and because of that it is important to make plenty of space within lessons for both accuracy and fluency activities as well as writing activities. An accuracy activity such as a 3 by 3 drill gives each student a chance to practice all together without embarrassment, and then allows the professor to see each student's strength and weaknesses once they have had the chance to practice a few times. Games can be useful in getting students to speak up as they are fun and engaging. Create writing exercises can also be great teaching tools, as they allow students to drive the content of the language while still working toward the overall goal.
