In unit 9 we learned about the importance of lesson planning for teachers and the benefit lesson plans not only have on individual lessons, but on the student learning objectives, the improvement of the teacher's skills, and the long-term development of teaching experience for new teachers. Many experienced teachers may only need to do minimal lesson planning prior to classes. Their history of teaching allows them to have lots of ideas stored up for use, which makes their lessons flexible rather than rigid. As a new teacher, this is something I really hope to improve on. I agree with the point in the lesson that it is vital for all teachers to evaluate their own lessons in order to figure out what works and what needs improvement, which will help them become better teachers over time and will help them develop a strong record of lesson plans to help themselves and perhaps their future colleagues.
