There are two different options toward lesson plan. One side think it confines the flexibility of teacher and it is teacher centered. Another side consider it can help inexperienced teachers better conduct class. Despite of setbacks put forward by the first side, I still hold the opinion that lesson plan is important. First of all, it helps cover all target language. You can see the time schedule and procedure of a lesson from the lesson plan. Sometimes, for the unpredictable problems, teacher may spend much more time to explain one problem to one student, which causes less time to cover the rest and much more important target language. With the time schedule already assigned to each target language, teacher can deliver the class smoothly. Then, it helps organize the class well. Especially for the inexperienced teachers, they may confront unexpected problems during the class. But if teachers can anticipate some problems before class and think out the solution in advance, the unnecessary time consuming can be avoided. Also from the lesson plan we can see the logic of a lesson. With the recorded plan, teacher can polish it when they teach the same target language. Teacher will teach thousands of class. It is difficult for them to remember all the class they taught before. But lesson plan can record it. So lesson plan can help teacher to better teach the same class again. All in all, the advantages outweigh the disadvantages of lesson plan. Especially for the inexperienced teacher, lesson plan should, on no circumstances, be ignored.
