Teacher attitude is a huge part of teaching practices. Ruby Payne wrote, "no significant learning can happen without a significant relationship". In looking at the two lessons the first presents a teacher who is "large and in charge" but does not seem to know his students and their present level of performance. In the second round, Simon the teacher won over the students with a smile and attempting to pronounce and use everyone's name. The second lesson also had the students working to practice the language in multiple ways. I hope my current lessons look as nice as the second example. He began with engagement, study, activate and ended with another engagement activity. If students are expected to learn English, they should be allowed to practice it in a safe place where mistakes are first attempts in learning, not opportunities for correction and intimidation.
