Unit 18 began by explaining the basic rules of modal auxiliary verbs as well as some of their uses and tenses. It then went on to explain the differences between an independent clause, dependent clause, and a relative clause. Finally, the unit ended by explaining the differences between the three basic types of phrasal verbs. The three types of phrasal verbs are intransitive, transitive separable, and transitive inseparable. The biggest lesson that I learnt from this unit had to do with the uses of the modal auxiliary verbs. I found it interesting and useful how the uses were broken down into an easily memorable chart.
