This unit is about lesson plans and lesson planning. More seasoned teachers may not rely as heavily on a lesson plan, but for newer teachers, having a lesson plan on hand in the classroom is highly recommended. Teachers will prepare lesson plans so that they know the objectives of the lesson, what they wish the students to be able to accomplish and what language point will be taught to help achieve that objective. The lesson plan is also important as it is an important tool for organizing the time spent during the lesson as well as anticipating what aids are required and what problems may be encountered. It was helpful to be provided with the lesson plan template in this unit, and as a new teacher I find the importance of having a lesson plan readily apparent. It would be very irresponsible to just walk-in to the classroom and “wing it” with no plan in place.
