Among the core aspects of a language is grammar. It would be impossible to understand a language without the proper use of its grammar. It is grammar that allows us to even talk about a language. However it is not exclusive to only English. Every single language has its own set of rules that have to be followed in order to properly speak it, write in it, read in it and understand what someone is saying if they are using it. Some sets of rules may be similar to others, German and French, for example, and are therefore easier to learn when already, at least partially, knowing the other, but ultimately they are unique. One of the benefits of learning grammar is that it gives the student the opportunity to not only understand but also clearly see how the language is structured which can be particularly important for students that often have difficulty with languages and that subsequently need a more structural approach to languages. Aside from that, once someone knows the grammatical structure of a language, the greater part of the remainder, which, in part, can be learned along with the grammatical aspect is the vocabulary. Another important reason to properly learn the correct grammar to any given language, is to avoid any, and if possible all, mistakes. Especially when you are talking to someone else it can very easily and quickly happen that you misunderstand the other person, or that they misunderstand you, if you do not have the appropriate grammar skills necessary in order to converse at a certain level. Yet such an occurrence does not always have to lead to an embarrassing misinterpretation, it can also bring about it a humorous exchange in which whatever is wildly misunderstood. The outcome of such a misunderstanding also depends on your level of confidence in your own language skills. Perfecting ones grammatical capabilities in any language can be extremely beneficial in many ways. For example it can boost your confidence in the respective language which could, in turn, be inhibiting your ability to learn at a more progressive pace. Often students can become increasingly shy, particularly in large classes or classes with students of varying linguistic skill levels. This may be strongly counterproductive for them in order to learn as best they can, especially if they would flourish in a different environment. Being confident in your abilities in a secondary language can only be to your own personal benefit since you will be much more open to trying new things and learning more. If you do not believe you will understand or pass the course or semester from the beginning then you will be far less likely to succeed. In conclusion it is clear to say that grammar is the most vital part of a language. A language cannot work without it. Not even the most basic of sentences could be constructed without the use of proper grammar. It is always important to not give up immediately when learning something new. One must stay open to all possibilities.
