From this unit, I have learned that sentences in English are comprised of various parts of speech. Each sentence needs a verb and a subject, and it may contain other parts such as an object. There are transitive and intransitive verbs, and some transitive verbs can be used as intransitive verbs. There are adverbs of place, manner, degree, time and frequency, and their placement in a sentence can vary depending on whether the verb in the sentence is transitive or intransitive. Verbs also have various forms such as infinitive, base, present or past participle. Verbs can also be converted to nouns using the gerund form.
