Unit 19 Teaching special groups covered the teaching of young learners and students studying English for business. I found this unit of interest because I teach young learners. While the popular consensus is that the student's native language should not be used at all, I have found using in certain situations is helpful in that concepts that are difficult to explain Can be made clear by using just one keyword in the native language. It helps the children who tend to panic when they don't understand. However when I teach adults I don't use the native language as they can freely look up anything they don't understand.
