The content of this unit provided the basics on sentence structure and the grammatical intricacies of the English language. By breaking down each part of a sentence, the lesson examined the category in which each word belonged, and the reasons for that placement. As a native speaker of English, I was reminded of the many, often complicated, aspects of sentence components and how often English words fall outside of the rules. When speaking and writing English, it is easy to forget how complex the structure can be and how many considerations must be made when choosing words and combinations to communicate effectively.
