Receptive skills are those that reading and listening and this unit detailed the importance of these skills, and why they are important. Additionally, the unit laid out some possible challenges students will have with these, more likely in listening as they cannot see the words on paper and review them as they can when reading. It's interesting to note the various kinds of skills that are associated with reading and when we use those, as well as noting the different ways we listen. By outlining these, it helps to understand how a student might struggle with some aspects that, as native speakers, we take for granted.
