Throughout this course, I have learned various techniques for engaging students, maintaining interest, stimulating thought, assessing understanding, and problem solving. Personally, I have gained awareness of psychosocial intricacies (group dynamics, etc) in the art of teaching, i.e. treading carefully to avoid inciting negative feelings (such as making a student feel ostracized or put on the spot in front of the entire class). This course has also given me the tools to build lesson plans incorporating various aspects of learning (study vs activate) and include activities that stimulate creativity (activate activity examples included in the units). I plan to consult these materials in the future when I progress to teaching a class.
